(1) At the place of adoption, find out what judge processed yours.
(2) Write him a letter saying that you would like to have your files
opened and for what purpose (it could be for health history).
If he refuses to open the file, ask him to give you all the
non-identifying information in your file. This can be helpful. Usually
they will send you a file with the name either cut out or whited out.
This is when you begin to count the probable letters in the name.
Sometimes, they make a mistake and leave the names in. This happened to
a case I recently helped with. When you get this information, write to
me again and I will tell you how to proceed further.
