I used to do some TV maintenance but am rusty. My ten year old
Zenith takes about 20 seconds to come on after the volume
control switch is pulled when it's cold (start-up is fairly
normal when it has been run in the last few minutes). This not
just the video that is slow. Even the dial light, indicating the
channel, takes a while to come on... so I don't think it's the
picture tube heater. More likely some component in the low
voltage power supply. Perhaps the low voltage rectifier or the
main electrolytic capacitor?
Picture is still excellent. I replaces the volume control power
switch (which was intermittent) about a year ago. Now it always
comes on; it's just slow! Appreciate any ideas from the techs
here abouts. Bill Hurn
