subject: CABLE!!

-> I was wondering how much loss I would
-> have for 50 feet of RG-8 (radio shack) coax at 27 Mhz. I was
-> wondering really how much of my signal is loss. And also, how much
-> loss for the same amount of feet and cable.. only at 144 Mhz? Thanks
-> a bunch. P.S. Somehow I get the impression radio shack coax is...
-> marginal. Just wondering whats it all about. C-ya KB2SBC
   The figures I have for the Radioshack RG-8(Which IS marginal) are;
 loss per 50Ft
.85 at 50 Mhz Approx 21% of signal
1.25 at 100 Mhz Approx 25% of signal
3.25 at 400 Mhz Approx 52% of signal
This compairs with Belden 8214, Very Good RG-8.
Loss per 50 ft
.6 at 50 Mhz
.9 at 100 Mhz
2.1 at 400 mhz
And compairs with Belden 9913, Excellent RG-8
loss per 50Ft
.45 at 50 Mhz
.7 at 100 Mhz
1.3 at 400 Mhz
Overall for CB operation I see not too much wrong with Radioshack RG-8
in runs of 50 ft or less. BUT forget it for anything above the CB Band.
