Yoo Hoo, William,
WO> ... the gondolas would have to be larger to accomodate the
WO> [wheel]chair (at least a folded wheelchair). Due to state
WO> requirements, they need minimum clearances for the gondolas while
WO> moving along the cable, which in short meant, bigger holes in
WO> Matterhorn. Disney didn't want bigger holes in Matterhorn, so they
WO> closed the ride down instead.
WO> Don't know how true that is, but it did sound logical, for both
WO> Disney and the state requirements.
Logical, yes. I wonder just how much bigger the holes through the
Matterhorn could be without getting in the way of the steel structural
members.
WO> Have I cluttered the reasons further?
Yup! But that's what comes of the sort of wild speculation we (and
possibly the castmembers we've been listening to) have indulged in. Fun,
but not guaranteed to be accurate
Hey, are you close enough to call Disneyland Guest Realtions at
(714-999-4565) to get the "official" answer without running up your long
distance bill?
