Disagree.  Nothing happened on 9-11 that hadn't happened before.  The scale
was marginally larger but, still, nothing happened that hadn't happened
before.

The reaction, however, may seem to have been disproportionate but even
that, too, was nothing new.  TPTB have always wanted to exert greater
control and tracking of the populaces.  This was simply another excuse (no
different from the imposition of the War Measures Act in Canada after two
kidnappings and before the murder of a government minister who had ties to
organized crime).

The Ministry of Peace, war with Eurasia/Oceania ... there's nothing new
here.  Santayana is correct --  and those who want democratic-totalitarian
control over the others haven't learned that theirs is a stuggle doomed to
failure probably because they aren't the ones paying the cost.
