I'm with Gary on this one. I've just returned from three years living in
New York. The assertion that "it's" so "routine" that
"it doesn't even make the news" is nonsense and especially so in
New York. Police shootings in New York are big news in the NYC media and
taken very seriously by the authorities and the mayor.
I found the manner of the Brazilian shooting shocking, not just the
relative rarity of such an event in the UK.
