In this market BANM gives you 270 minutes for $99 and you can add free
weekends to that for 7 bucks a month extra. The competition gives 300 minutes
for the same 99 bucks, they do charge and interconnect fee though. For an
extra $13 a month you can add 500 offpeak minutes. (After 8pm)
In this market the 300 minutes for 95 is no big deal, they'd have to do a lot
better than that to attract any attention.
For $159 you can get 540 minutes of peak or offpeak time.
I can't remember the Nextel rates but they are probably noticably better than
the traditional cellular carriers.
BANM also offers unlimited calling after 8pm for 30 bucks a month. Does
sprint offer a comparable plan in your market?
I spoke with the people at Sprint PCS in Boston, they should be on in a
couple of months but had no idea what the rates would be.
In order to make any dent in this market they're going to have to really cut
the rates. They'll be the fourth carrier, BANM is being very aggressive and
will have a CDMA network this summer, things are heating up, it will be fun
to watch. I'll keep the echo posted.
Thanks for your reply.
