subject: BEYOND UNIVBE51----!

Following is a technical fix for a problem many VESA users have been
having with DUKE3D (and maybe Terminal Velocity):
For those of you who are having trouble getting UNIVBE51 or UNIVBE51a to
behave with DUKE3D and your VESA setup the way you expected it to: I
suggest you try out Scientech's newer version 5.2.
It has been renamed Scientech Display Doctor and is archived as
SDD52.ZIP (or something close to that). If you have WWW access, go to
http://www.scientech.com and you can download it there.
UNIVBE51 crashed my machine -- causing an automatic reboot -- when I
tried to run DUKE3D in VESA mode. Running TV in SVGA mode caused the
image to crunch up into the top inch or two of my screen (I have a
Cirrus Logic 5429 chipset). No such problems with SDD52. Also, SDD52
has a variety of other gizmos lacking in 5.1. Registered UNIVBE51 users
get SDD52 free (or at least they used to when SDD52 came out a few
months ago).
