G'Day Peter,

PC> If you mean VB/WIN maybe compiler is not the word to use here.
:)
You don't have to bag VB, i've never sweared at a program as much as to
this bloody thing.:)
FA> Btw, basic does have it's strcmp like function now, with a nice
FA> touch, where an optional argument can determine binary or

FA> stricmp() like function. There's also "like" and
"is" both of
FA> which returns boolean or NULL.
PC> This must have been added in VB4 as i can't remember ever seeing it in

PC> basic.
Well, for Like and IS, operator is a better word, i've just posted the C
version for Like, by this time you'd have seen it, and IS seems like an
overloaded '=' operator, that it can be used to compare any object.
StrComp, is int StrComp(char*,char*,int bin|txt); returning -1,0,1.
3 or so years back i stopped using Basic, and never looked back, now i find
that VB changed so much, i have to learn as i go.Unfortunately i have to make
a windows program for someone and my knowledge in WinC++ is rather limited.
VB is much improved, but still has a very awkward syntax, the only thing i
like (or used to) in basic is the string handling, but after numerous checks
for if str = Null falling through, i found a note: Quote -The expression
"if str = Null" will always evaluate to False as Null is False in
itself-..
then i cried for a while...

Ps: we'll have to chat about C programming one day ;-)
