Split presidential terms are ok.  But, they are still 
limited.

Sorry, it doesn't work that way.  After 2 full terms, 
even in split years, that person is no longer elligble to 
run for president.  In fact, that person cannot even run 
for the vice-presidency.  

But, it is possible to hold the office for a total of 
10 years.  (Actually, 1 day less than 10 yrs).  Ford 
could be re-elected for only one more term even though 
he only served on full term.  His tenure as the only 
unelected president(*) of the US per Nixon's resignation 
would preclude him from running again.  


(*)  I don't recall the name, but, very temporarily, 
there was another president of the US because of a 
transition.  As that person was never sworn in as 
president, it is "in theory only".  The actual succeeding 
president was sworn in the very next morning.  

That "president" slept through his presidency!
