I've got a DOS program that apparently _requires_ MSCDEX be loaded in the DOS
sesson. I've tried most everything I can think of in trying to load it in
either a VMB or VDM.
The closest I've come is in a VMB, which when I try to load it gives me the
message "device MSCD001" not found. (I'm using the command line MSCDEX
/D:MSCD001 .) I've even tried disabling VCDROM.SYS, figuring that since _it_
provides the virtual CD-ROM services that removing it would allow MSCDEX to
load. All with no success.
I've also found the various files floating around that detail how to load
your dos CD_ROM device drivers in order to use a CD-ROM in dos only, but that
won't work for me as I've got my SCSI CD-ROM on the same controller as my
hard drives and tape drive.
So, does anyone here know how to load MSCDEX when there's no CD-ROM specific
device driver loaded?
This is about my last hope, as I've already checked OS2USER on Compuserve,
DejaNews, the Warp Pharmacy, Hobbes, and my Hobbes OS/2 Archived CD-ROMs.
TIA,
KEN
