Subject: MR. MAGOO CONCERNS
I would like some fellow Federationist feedback on some concerns I am
having with respect to the Mr. Magoo situation. It has been my
observation, and is historically so (as I have been remined by numerous
friends and family members) that publicity and controversy of thisnature
(threatened boycotts, etc) lead to a greater interest than might have
otherwise exiwsted in the offending movie, song, commercial, book, etc. I
firmly believe we should oppose this movie, but I am uncertain as to the
method we should employ to do so. What do others think?
My current musings center around the idea of picketing with posters that
make analogous statements/proposals for mock movies that would potentially
offend other groups. There are obvious problems with this method, the
main one being that we shouldn't have to potentially offend in order to
demonstrate to others why this movie is insu.ting to the blind.
