You need to get past reading the magazines printed mainly for executives
and others not likely to be "downsized".
AT&T is a major presence in my town. My neighbor and many I know were
given "early retirements" (with full pension/benefits) as what amounted to
layoffs.
The day after Clinton spoke at a Jeep plant in Toledo and congratulated
Chrysler on making the 2,000,000 Jeep, Chrysler announced that it would
consolidate production there and lay off 1,800.
