Hello Doris,
I think there is an answer to this problem. At the moment we don't have
it. 
Some of my glads grow erect, some are growing parallel to the ground
when they first emerge from the ground. I don't know if this a PH
balance thingy, or lack of, or too much fertilizer? I do believe that if
we keep talking about it, and trying different ideas. We solve the
problem.
