In FidoNet, ELIST is short for Echo List, the "official" listing
of all available echoes (forums*).  If an echo's ELIST entry has expired,
it is in danger of being dropped from distribution unless the moderator
acts within a certain timeframe to renew the entry.

I've always seen that referred to as an email list.
