PE> IB> Does anyone have any code (or information) to recognise which archiver
PE> IB> is used for compression (ZIP, ARC etc)?

PE> Yes, ARCTYPE.C in OZPD (FREQ OZPD from 3:711/934). BFN. Paul.

FM> Is that what they call a "magic" name?

Yes, that is correct, I have the following magic names:

{at}tobruk c:\bbssoft\tbk*.*
{at}ozpd c:\pdomain\ozpd*.*
{at}pdcrc c:\pdomain\pdcrc*.*
{at}pdcomm c:\pdomain\pdcom*.*
{at}pdpclib c:\pdomain\pdpc*.*
{at}msged c:\bbssoft\msq3*.*
{at}btpe c:\bbssoft\btpe*.*
{at}small c:\bbssoft\small.*
{at}devil c:\minpoint\devil*.*

FM> Because I just checked your files
FM> list and the actual file is OZPD9603.ZIP.

Yep, that works too. But it changes all the time. It's my
responsibility to get the magic names pointing to the correct
files. So far I have managed to do it via wildcards.

FM> I'll freq it anyway, bloody hell you'll have me learning the C
FM> "language" soon!

It's well worth knowing! BFN. Paul.
