I agree that a level above the DNA/RNA level
may exist within multicells. These will probably be
proteins. Prions have pointed the gun and cocked
it and the inheritance of stable acquired characters
via experimentally altering cilia patterns in
protists by Sonniborn et al has fired the gun. So far
such events have not been documented within multi-
cellular organisms. This is probably because people
would prefer not to look for them.

What has been deleted within the gene level explanation
is all genetic epistasis. This probably constitutes
over 99% of inherited information, i.e. gene centric
models of what is inherited may have deleted over
99% of the available information stored within the
genome.

Haldane’s Dilemma
refuted Fisher’s dictum that only additive genomic
gene by gene information was “heritable” and therefore
“selectable”. The gene centric Neo Darwinian response
was to ignore this refutation and “carry on as
normal” otherwise their grants may become adversely
affected....

Heritable information is highly geared because
it can be multiplicative and not just additive.
Waddington’s processes of canalisation and
assimilation that have been sitting on the back
burner for over 50 years must become the main dish.
Waddington attempted to include an extra variable
“developed in x” within Haldane's basic population
genetics equations (which were based of the HW
equilibrium which in turn remains based on a bi-nominal
distribution). I recommend anybody who
may find the mathematics indigestible to refer
to any diagram of Pascal’s Triangle:
