The "biggest" system I have going here (two of them, actually) is a K6-200 w/64M of ram. Got a P200 with somewhat less, but as soon as I check out the ram I brought home the other day and see what I've got I'll probably add some more to that one. BB> There's about half a gigabyte nominally free but Windows wants BB> half of that for virtual memory management. I recently upgraded the 98 box here by adding what was supposed to be a 1G IDE drive but which turned out to be SCSI (it's an all-SCSI Compaq) to it, doing the 98 install to that, and having it take a bit of the original 500M drive for swap. It complains to me from time to time that "Drive D is too full" but none of what it suggests seems to do anything to help that, so I don't worry about it too much. I'm planning to install linux on the rest of that drive. BB> So a C compiler for it has to about the size of MSC 7, or BB> Zortech 3. Not familiar with those, the last time I hung out in here MSC 6 was out, and I don't recall where Zortech was at that time. Bob's Suggestion of Mix Power C is a good one, though. I have that and have used it okay, though I haven't done much of anything with it lately. Have it (and their other stuff I own) on 5.25" floppies, which should tell you something about how long ago I got them. :-) BB> Andrew listed a few, and I've asked him which is smallest. I can BB> wait till he gets back. :-) Thought I saw a reply to that earlier in this pile. Sounds to me like you really oughta get rid of some of what's on that box, or something... ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 106/1 2000 633/267 |
