AP> Some have speculated that Donald Trump is purposefully self-destructing
AP> his presidental run... and purposefully destroying the Republican Party
AP> from the inside out.
Let me ask you some stupid questions about this, because I live in Germany, I'm
interested in politics, but never really cared about the US elections, but Mr.
Trump is really funny.
How does one become presidential candidate? Sure, he got elected within his own
party, but is there some unwritten rule about who's next? I mean, you don'T get
candidate by yourself, so either he fooled his party or the majority actually
wants him.
AP> I really have some deep worries now.
I don't. I think Forrest Trump ist gonna be the next president of the United
States.
Did you see what happened in Europe? Great (or soon Little) Britan voted to
leave the EU and one of the leading heads of the leave campaign also had this
trump-like hair style. And the leave campaign won - probably beacause they
promised a better world. And what happened after their victory? The old Prime
Minister resigned and the winners don't have a new one, because they're missing
a plan on how to do anything they promised. And Trump doesn't seem to have any
plans, either. He just seems to try to be different, because people seem to be
somewhat unsatisfied. The people are looking for simple answers and Trump is
giving them simple answers.
If you imagine someone running for president who talks about all the details of
nowadays problems, would US citizens listen to his speeches? If he said that he
will increase taxes a lot, would he have a change in the US? Over here you only
get voted for promising lower taxes and more benefits.
In Germany we have a satirical party called Die PARTEI (The PARTY) and their
leader got elected to the European Parliament by promising to not only rebuild
the Berlin wall, but building walls all over Europe, so I guess Trump's wall to
Mexico might well fit in there. They have posters saying "overcome substance,
vote for us, we're very good" or "no speed limits" (with some white powder on a
table), "vote for me, I need a job" or "vote for unicorns" (showing a rhino). I
think Trump need some of those, too. ;-)
