I don't recall all of the specifics now, but no, I don't really think
religion was a part of the equation. I got the impression that Target just
didn't like the idea of the kettles in front of their stores (and
admittedly, the guys are often fairly scruffy looking).

For me though, it just seemed wrong to ban them, their kettles and bells
are part of my memories starting from before I was actually capable of
remembering.
