And I sit here looking at it and wondering why anyone would stay on their
roof for a week when there is nothing but sunshine and calm water which
they could easily float across to reach safety.

Climb back into the attic, grab a garbage bag, fill it with air and use it
like a lifesaver to start heading for shore. I mean what's the problem
people, learn to help yourselves if there is nobody around.  But no,
instead they stand around demonstrating "we want help, we want
help" like the world owes them something.
