  Sorry to hear about your finger..  Every since I have read that
  article I have taken a lot of extra precautions that I never did
  before.  I no longer reach over the prop to adjust my fuel mixture.  I
  immediately get behind the plane once it is started. I use chaulks on
  the front wheels and tie down the back of the plane BEFORE I start the
  plane.  I have always used an electric starter, but I found a nice
  size branch and cut about 10 "chicken sticks"..  I give one of them to
  each pilot I see at the airfield that starts to "flip that prop" with
  his hand...  I also posted an updated safety precaution sheet at the
  airfield and put an article in the club newsletter reminding everyone
  about safety.  It's sad to say but we all get lazy and forget about
  the most important thing.  SAFETY ...
