Hi Pc-tech,
Following up a message from David Hays to Pc-tech:
DH> P> What is your current initialization string?
DH>AT&F2&K4E0V1&D2S0=0S7=45+FAA=2
P> Hmm. Not so good. Try the following instead:
P> at&f2eov1s0=6s7=45+FAA=2
DH> OK, I'll make that change.
No go. I get an error every time I initialize with that string. I don't
with my original. Looks like a typo, the "eo" should be an "e0"?
DH>I have the problem even if I pick up the phone manually and just
DH>listen without saying anything. I can hear the FAX tones coming from
DH>the calling FAX, but the modem just sits there.
P> If you are listening in, the modem may not hear the fax CNG tones.
P> You'll need to stay off of the phone. Also, try leaving a short 1
P> second (or so) gap on the beginning of your outgoing answering
P> machine message.
OK, after changing the init string to
AT&F2E0V1S0=6S7=45+FAE=3
I can get the modem to pick up after answering the phone. It says that it is
making a class 1 fax connection, but the fax never comes through and the
modem just stays off-hook and has to be reset.
I'm farther along than I was, but I'm still confused. I'm assuming that
since the FAX Talk for Windows software comes with the SupraSonic and that
the SupraSonic reference manual discusses how to set it up, that it must be
possible. I just haven't been able to do it yet. ;-(
Regards,
