I have an additional comment regarding your review of the dusty book you
found in the
church library. I don't know your age, but I'm old. That doesn't make me any
more in
telligent, but it does give me experience that you may or may not have had
time to gain.
Years ago in my work place I listened to a discussion regarding someone's
parents and
how behind the times they were. An individual somewhat younger than I
offered his ex
perience. He'd been in a motorcycle gang during his youth and found his dad
about as dumb as a "bucket of horseshoes". Then came the Vietnam War and the
draft board began
breathing down his neck. After four years in the Navy he returned home and
found tha
t his father had somehow educated himself while he was away.
We humans, as a species, have not changed to any extent. We've put a man on
the moon and learned how to destroy larger numbers of people with less
effort. However, we still conduct the same arguments, carry the same grudges,
voice the same threats, and see the same shortcomings in our friends and
relatives.
Perhaps this young lady disembarking from the train saw her parents in much
the same way my friend saw his father before he served in the Navy.
It's only an idea and something to discuss.
Best regards,
Scott
