I can answer this for you.  This comes from the jewish practice of never 
spelling God's name out.  You will also see L-rd sometimes.  Shoshona, like 
myself, is a messianic jew (a jewish follower of Jesus).  Some of us continue 
this practice, while others don't.  You may also find some gentile believers 
who adopt this practice out of respect for sisters like Shoshona.
