incorrect... that should read "only if you are going to connect to the
internet." ... my UUCP system is registered in the UUCP maps as well as the
sanford.nc.us maps... but as it is a UUCP connection, it is dial up... and
yes, i do run a sub domain under me... several as a matter of fact...

i believe that the InterNic will only come into play on direct connects...
like to an ISP... however, UUCP dialup, store-n-forward doesn't register with
the InterNic as their mail is routed via the MX records to their host that
they call. this host does not have to be an ISP. indeed, many ISP's have no
idea about UUCP and those that do do not handle it or charge a huge price for
it... and no, a UUCP link is not one that you can surf the web, use IRC, or
FTP live with... UUCP is akin to a scripted terminal session into a BBS to
pick QWK offline mail while you are sleeping so you can have your mail in the
morning >
