Actually, clicking on the reload button should do the same thing. That sho= uld
prompt IE to pull a fresh copy of the page from the server. When the graph= ics
did not load the first time, that was what I did. In some cases, more of t= he
graphic loaded, and in others, less. Maybe it is the extreme slowness of t= he
AOL server. I've never seen pages, even text pages, load so slowly.

>If that's not it then one of the following=20
might be the cause:

>-Using an older version of IE or Netscape

The computer I am using is a Pentium 4 1.6 GHz processer running Windows XP
and with the latest version of Internet Explorer. I don't think that's the
problem.

-A slow connection

Well, it is a dial-up connection, and on some other sites, the graphics do
load slowly, but they eventually do load. A weak ago, I was downloading
maps that were 2000x1500 .jpg and .gif files, and though they loaded
slowly=
,
they did load all the way. "Dark Horizon" is the only site I can
remember since getting the latest computer where this happens. It happened
again today when I looked at the site again. I clicked on a section I had
not previously looked at, and those graphics were half-loading as well
(which prompts a question, what is the dedication quote on the Chamberlain
plaque? The graphic did not load all the way)

>-An ISP that isn't providing a very good=20
internet connection.

Of course, if this is true, then the problem should come up with other
site= s, but so
far, it is only the "Dark Horizon" site that does this. Other
sites I've l= ooked at
load normally.

>-If you're using a proxy that might cause the
graphics to get backed up.

I'm not using a proxy.

>-If you're using a work connection there are some
businesses that place restrictions on graphics

Nope, a home connection.

>-Browser settings

I'm not an expert on those, so I can't say.

>One thing you might do is check out the two=20
following websites. Both are fairly graphics intensive and if you have no
problems at all with them I suppose there might be some strange problem
between your ISP and AOL, but if its a general graphics problem you're
having then these should cause the same types of problems you're
experiencing with my site.

> http://www.tgeweb.com/

This one loads but slowly (interesting site, by the way). The images load fully.

> http://www.3dluvr.com/plecxus/workinproj.html

This site is simply too large to load all at once (the person behind the
site should find the time to make up thumbnail pages and also learn a
little Engish), but some images did fully before I stopped it.

>Give these a try and let me know how they load up
for you.

I wonder if the AOL ad banner at the top of the page has anything to do
with it. Does the site use any strange, non-typical HTML codes or even
Java aplets or scripts? Maybe it is the frames. One thing I do know is
that since I got the new computer, I have had some trouble with the
Internet. I have found it impossible to upload new files to my own site,
and to ease the frustration level, I have resorted to copying the files to
my older computer and using' that to upload. The next time I do that (and
it should be soon, "Traitor's Son (Part One)" is almost ready to
go), I'll check the Dark Horizons site and see how it works there. I am
getting the feeling that there is some kind of setting in Windows XP that
is doing this, but looking through 1000-page manuals and searching through
the Web has produced no answers to this.
