That is the correct useage, and it survived for centuries in rural
areas, mountains, and the Southern United States.  But now, if someone
uses the second person plural, there will be a snob nearby who won't
understand and will take it as a sign of a lack of education.  But we
get our own snickers in when the snob tries to mimic it and winds up
incorrectly using "ya'll" when referring to a single person.
