TC> ->DK>However .. when you download and execute it, it

TC> ->DK>with a _very_ expensive overseas number (like in Slobovia
TC>SL->DK>Anyone hear anything else about this? Right now I consider
TC> ->DK>it rumor (at best).
TC>SL->...I wouldn't even lend it that much credence...even if there were
TC> ->some macro that could perform a trick such as this,no way could you
ot
TC> ->notice your modem dropping out of your 'net-browser and
re-dialling...it
TC> ->just sounds like a crock of the purest and rawest sewage to
TC> ->me...besides,when you shut down your modem,you shut down your
TC> ->modem...end of story...it can't stay connected by itself...
TC>There is such a program. You have probably heard of it on TV by now. It
TC>initilized the modem with M0 as to silence the speaker. It then dialed
TC>the phone number to "moldavia". It stayed connected until the modem was
TC>hung up (usually by a power off). The FCC is investigating if the calls
TC>ever actually went to Moldavia (they think they might have just gone to
TC>KY and the user was billed for a Moldavia call).
...guess my external has some advantages after all...don't think I would
miss that,silent or otherwise...besides,when I'm net-bashing,I have a
tendency to watch my screen...if it freezes for any great length of
time I would be inclined to wonder why...
TC>Asfar as your modem staying connected... it certainlly can. Aprogram
TC>can be shut down and if the ATH command is not issued it DOES stay
TC>connected. Try it... crash your terminal program and your modem will
TC>still be connected until you shut down or issue the ATH command.
...I guess Telix has spoiled me for ease of use and reliability...it
wouldn't allow such nonsense...but for net-bashing I guess the software
is not suitably advanced to have developed simplicity and
dependability...
