ure
KK>the leading edge of the blade is nice and round like a wing, not sharp.
KK>Then I check the balance again. More often then not I find the balance
KK>problem with wood props is the finish. Too much ends up on one side or
ne
KK>tip or whatever. Once I remove the finish most of my wood ones balance as
KK>is. Of course the bare wood can't be used so it has to be finished in
ome
KK>way. I use a spay can of clear Poly-U from the hardware store. I stick a
KK>scrap piece of balsa through the hole to serve as a handle and I spray on

KK>light coat to start. I use the balsa handle to hold the prop flat, front
KK>side up while drying. Once dry I check the balance again and try to add a
KK>little extra to the light side on the second coat. Three or four medium
KK>coats does it and when balanced it runs so much better. Perhaps I should
do
KK>up a bunch and bring them to Camden with me. Might pay for my trip that
KK>way! :)

Thanks for the "correct" way to balance a wooden prop. Just wish I
would have known this a few days before I got mine. At least now I
know what the right way to do it is if I decide to get any more...
You should bring some with you pick out about the 4 or 5 most popular
sizes and bring say about 8-10 of each...

BTW: Is there going to be any kind of an auction there at Camden?
