Interesting comment George (Diesel Generators under water).

I recall when Shelley and I were driving down to Dauphin Island, that on
the ONLY road in/out, I noticed that all the cell phone towers were built
15-20 feet OFF the ground, as were the communication huts and power
generators, all up on elevated platforms.

You'd think that the people who understood that the whole area could easily
flood, would consider the same in New Orleans, especially since they're
below sea level there.

Also, I wonder how/if the cell towers were working that are on the tops of
the buildings (or if they got blown off with the storm)?  Also, wonder if
those generators are stuck in the basement, or are up on the upper floors
where the communication gear is positioned?
