How they're different:
The 5th Element didn't have to live up to anything while Star Trek: Nemisis did.


With the 5th Element there was nothing to compare it too, it was a fresh start.
 With Star Trek: Nemisis, it had been around for what?  12 years, and been
mathed to death by the fans.  To much history.  No risks were taken.
Walking into the 5th Element? We all knew it was going to be cheesy.
Nemisis on the other hand let us down. Great Storys, Great moments in Trek,
and it just couldn't deliver.  It went for the flash bang, like had been
done with Voyager, and the intelectual fans are just sick and tired of it.
Don't care about the flash, give me Trek!
