I have done this.... Since I do the newsletter every month I put in
an additional comment "from the publisher" providing suggestions and
ideas to get more individuals involved. I have even gone to my sons
school and showed what was first to be just his class and turned out
to be the whole school a few of my planes. I ran them around the
track and talked with the kids. I handed out flyers advertising the
club and all. I even went as far as to make out rules and guidelines
for different types of contest... The idea for the contest was
brought up at a meeting and it was decided to wait until the next,
then the next, and so forth..... I have asked for there advice, even
there help trying to get more members involved... WE JUST WANT TO FLY
is the attitude I get...
KK>Hard to say why. Perhaps just bluntly asking the question "does anyone
give
KK>a hoot about having any club activities such as fun flies?" The core
sounds
KK>small and they may not have accepted the idea that you are a permanent
KK>member. They see the same group year after year and others that come and
go
KK>and figure many of you will go soon. They may not realize that they are
KK>part of the reason. Some hard questions may have to be asked of these
guys.
Without getting them all pissed at me I have done as much as I can. I
already do a newsletter for a local BBS, newsletter for work and then
I volunteered to do the one for the R/C Club... If they can't figure
out that I "want" to be a permanent member by know then I don't know
what else I can do. I wanted to be one of the officer's but working
second shift makes that hard to do...

I have talked with several of the pilots about leaving the club. I
even went as far as to try to sell some of my planes. There were
several that said then that they did not want me to go but I feel that
was more for the sake that they would then have to find someone else
to do the newsletter...
