The problem I have encountered is that some graphics aren't supported.
For instance, I did a scan of a picture in 256 color, and the same
picture in 16.7M color. The 256 color version (PCX) imports fine. I
get an error message when I try to import the 24 bit PCX file though.
A different problem exists with TIFF. What version TIFF is supported?
I understand that there are different compression methods that all come
under the heading of TIFF, and that not all are supported by every
program. Therefore, some may import, but others won't.
Be that as it may, your advice is accurate, just not complete. Even
using the import function, the graphics may not convert. It is a trial
and error method. if it fails, another program may be needed to convert
to a format that will import acceptably.
