From: "Mike Spooner" To: "Matthew L. Brown" , Reply-To: "Mike Spooner" Matt, How hard is your pitch? If the lap is too hard it often will dig a hole quickly as it simply won't flow quick enough to help smooth the surface. I completely disagree with the old literature about soft laps "plowing the mirror edge and wearing a TDE". The most perfect edges I've produced on optical surfaces used extremely soft laps (they had to be rechanneled at least every hour) though I was using them on a machine. (Didn't matter if it was MOT or TOT but for hand work I'd do TOT). I haven't done much hand work for years so YMMV. Best, --Mike Spooner ----- Original Message ----- From: "Matthew L.
