As to the Gas leaks that are burning, why not simply turn off all the gas
in NO? Do they need to keep pressure in the lines to keep the system sort
of intact (no water)? It would seem to me, that with the length of time
it's going to be before any real life resumes in those areas, and the homes
are rebuilt, they won't NEED the gas flowing, and will have ample time to
repair/restore the branch circuits.
