Hello there Frank ....

FF> Interestingly, Dynalink sales staff denied it was a rebadged

FF> Sportster, claiming it was their own "stand alone"
product. He also

FF> said it was NOT flash upgradable, (meaning their web site is

FF> lying), and it supported Rockwell's Class 2 fax, NOT Class 2.0 !!

The Web site actually says it is a "flash upgradeable ROM". Semantics

here, but to me this means that it has a ROM that can be upgraded to

flash. Difference being an "upgradeable flash ROM", meaning a ROM that

can be flashed.. The same is said on many motherboards that *can* have

a flash ROM fitted.

The real problem lays with Askey. Are they going to release a flashable

ROM??

FF> And their dealer said, like every other Dynalink, it doesn't

FF> recognize Aust dial and busy tones, but it IS a rebadged Sportster.

They do recognise dial/busy here. They, like a US Courier here,

sometimes get confused with the dial tone. In this case, when first

dialling out it records busy *but* always gets the dial on the second

attempt. This may happen once every 20 or so dial outs. Exactly the same

as the US Courier on this exchange.

FF> Someone's telling fibs, me thinks.

Or confused.

 FF> Still, it's very cheap for a 33.6k modem .....

Damn right there.
