I'm in Sydney, but I'd suggest you go to a large-ish bookstore (eg Dymock's,

Angus & Robertson); you'll probably find a whole shelf of books on C, many

of which will have either a free compiler of some sort or a cut-down version

of Borland's Turbo C.
