I participate in online forums on dozens of sites on the internet. None of them
have a wide variety of echoes like a BBS does. On a BBS I can get to know
people by discussing politics, technology, hobbies, sports, current events,
conspiracy theories, &tc. Web forums are more specialized, less personal.
I'd compare BBSes to your local pub/coffee shop.
