I didn't start telecommunication until relatively modern times,
beginning with a Commodore 64 and their 300 baud modem. It was
interesting then, to be able to read the messages while they were
streaming in, instead of buffering them, and to try renegotiating
up toward 600 baud, which was allowed with that hardware, though
you couldn't get much more than 450 without errors creeping in.
It's all stuffed into nooks and crannies around here somewhere,
having become display pieces for my astounding dust collection.
