Hi Vince:
For one thing the FREE card doens't enable you to save the 10% at the Disney 
Stores or the shopping areas at WDW and Disneyland.  You also get the Disney 
Catalog and a magazine which is very informative as to what is going on at 
the parks.  In the catalog, you can order items and sometimes they even put a 
spcial trip in there for gold card holders.  It is up to you if you want to 
spend the money to join, but I, for one, am very happy with it.  The packages 
available are pretty nice also.
