NB>> And it really seems as though businesses are trying to foster NB>> that lack of loyalty... encouraging workers to have less loyalty NB>> to the company, possibly so that the company doesn't have to feel NB>> so guilty when they dump them? DC> That could be it. I think that they forgot that their most DC> valuable asset is their employees. Maybe it should be a requirement in companies that everyone has to do the grunt work at least a year or so to see how valuable employees are. I don't know of too many "bosses" who can actually do the "small" stuff that keeps a company going. I did meet the son of the owner and president of the Park Corp. in Ohio once or twice in my newspaper days. They are the company that developed the Waterfront in Homestead after the steel mill closed. He was a very nice guy and just talking to him I knew he didn't look down on people. Him and his brother were vice-presidents of the company. The thing though is that both of them had to work in the field, getting their hands dirty before they were allowed to help run the company. Their dad explained that he wanted them to understand every aspect of the company and know how hard the "little" guy worked so they would treat the workers right. I never heard that any of the workers complained either. Sharon ---* Origin: Shar's Wildlife (1:3613/1275.7) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
