NB>> And it really seems as though businesses are trying to foster NB>> that lack of loyalty... encouraging workers to have less loyalty NB>> to the company, possibly so that the company doesn't have to feel NB>> so guilty when they dump them? DC> That could be it. I think that they forgot that their most DC> valuable asset is their employees. I often wonder how many of the big shots could actually do the work the employees do for them. I met a guy one time in my newspaper days who was one of the vice-presidents of the Park Corp. out of Ohio. They are the developers of the Waterfront where the Homestead Steel Mill was located. His father, owner and president of the company made him and his brother work in the field getting their hands dirty for quite a few years before he gave them the vice-president position in the company. He wanted them to understand what the workers go through so they would treat them right. My brother did some work for them and this particular guy came out to meet the guys when they first started. He put out his hand for my brother to shake hands. My brother pulled back because his hands were dirty. The guy said no problem because he did what my brother was doing once and they shook hands. Maybe more execs need to start out at the very bottom like that. Sharon ---* Origin: Shar's Wildlife (1:3613/1275.7) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
