Interesting question! The fact is, The message that was posted
consisted of only two lines--the offline reader and origin lines. The
text I typed was missing. Until you asked about it, I assumed I had
somehow improperly saved the message in such a way that caused the text
to be deleted. Now I'm not so sure.

Oh, geez, I just created another reply in v046 for a test and this time
the text to be quoted did appear. I added some new text and saved the
reply. Then when I looked at it, it consisted of just the quoted
text--my new text was missing. Ran another test with v037 and
everything looked good. I can't imagine what changed to make the editor
behave differently for v046.

For v037:
# Editor for replies = $EDITOR; or if not defined, edit
#;Editor: edit
Editor: c:\Progra~1\Olx\olxed

For v046:
# Editor for replies = $EDITOR; or if not defined, edit
# editor: edit
Editor: c:\progra~1\olx\olxed

The two differences in caps should have zero effect. Also it doesn't
seem to make any difference whether I spell out 'Program files' or use
progra~1.

WM>What builds of MultiMail are you using? (Are you sure you didn't change OS
WM>builds -- e.g., from DOS to Win32 -- as well as the version?) In what
WM>directories are they installed? Have you set an MMAIL environment variable

DOS for both 037 and 046.

The 037 path is c:\Program Files\mmdos37\mmail, but the mmail
subdirectory consists of only the colors and taglines files, plus 3 null
subdirectories for packet, reply and save files. (The packet, reply and
save files share the same directories with the OLX-TD reader.) All the
other files (including mm.exe) are in the mmdos37 directory.

The 046 path is c:\Program Files\mmdos046 and all files are in mmdos046.
There are no subdirectories. Again, the packet, reply and save paths
point to the corresponding OLX-TD directories.

Not sure about having an MMAIL environment variable set... is this what
you mean?...

# Base directories (derived from $HOME or $MMAIL)
HOME: c:\Program Files\mmdos37
homeDir: c:/Program Files/mmdos37
mmHomeDir: c:/Program Files/mmdos37/mmail

# Base directories (derived from $HOME or $MMAIL)
mmHomeDir: c:\Program Files/mmdos046
TempDir: c:\Program Files/mmdos046

For what it's worth, I had earlier added a HOME: statement in the Base
directories area for 046, but it made no difference.

I hesitate to to clutter up the message area by posting the entire
mmail.rc contents, but I wonder if perhaps you need to see both in their
entirety?
