I'm torn - deal with port blocking and TOS concerns, but get screamingly fast
speeds, or get a relatively slow DSL line from my favorite local provider and
know that he's actually providing internet service, not just selected traffic
on specific ports.

Around here, you can get 24/4 cable internet or 1.5/768 DSL for the same price.
I don't know if I'd be able to go back.
