As a user, pretty much since the start.  As a Fido node I didn't bother
until around 10 years ago seeing it was the only way to get Fido out here. 
I had a BBS earlier then that but not for Fido since there was already too
many Fido BBS's and didn't feel I needed to set one up.

Also was on the internet before ISP's even existed.  I assume you were too.
