There is a new device which allows the carjacked person to abandon the
car. Attached to their beltclip, they keep a remote. When the carjacker
leaves with the car, the appropriate button is pushed and the car simply
stalls and will not restart. This can be activated from up to 400' away
so as to avoid any reoccuring problems with the carjacker.
I don't know who offers it, I remember reading about it...
