RW> The Lusitania was a British flagged ocean liner that
RW> was sunk by a German U-boat w/o warning. Up to that
RW> time it was fairly common practice for a sub to surface
RW> and allow liners time to put any passengers on life
RW> boat and to send out a distress. Then they would sink
RW> the ship with gun fire. 128 Americans were killed.
RW> The incident was used as an example of the barbarism of
RW> the Germans and was cited as one of the reasons why the
RW> US should break its neutrality.
Does anybody know why the Americans were in a war zone that America was not
involved with in the first place? Sorry, I'm still trying to learn and there
are a few pieces of the puzzle missing.
Peace.
