Hi Jeff,
 
        Only my father was a step parent. My mother was my birthmother. 
She raised me for 3 years before she married my step father. I'm sorry that 
things changed for you with the one step daughter. If it were me, I would 
still love her and try to understand what is going on. She doesn't love you 
less than before, just has someone else to love also. Both my mom and step 
father have died, so there wouldn't be any problem there. In fact, I really 
didn't actively search until my step father died last year. My mom died 9 
years ago and I didn't find any of this out until after she died. I never 
told my step father that I knew, so he died believing that I never found out. 
I have no dream or expectations on who or what my birthfather is, but would 
like to meet him and the rest of my family. It won't make me love my existing 
family any less. I have a half sister and 3 half brothers whom I was raised 
with. I'm not sure how many I have on my birthfather's side.
