Hi, Dave.
DJ> Hmm, I did'nt buy most of the west coast avengers run.So, missed

When they re-established Henry Pym in the Avengers (this time
with the West Coast branch)... instead of changing the size of his
own body (it was determined that his body couldn't withstand the
stress of size-changing anymore), they instead chose make it such that
he could alter the size of other things... so he could have a
veritable arsenal of weaponry, transportation, equipment on him at all
times (he'd just enlarge whatever he needed to use)... usually in the
numerous pockets his cover-alls had. Before he got the cover-alls
though, he wore a full-length coat, a huge scarf & a floppy-brimmed
hat... which made him look a lot like the Tom Baker-Doctor from
"Doctor Who".
DJ> Lets see, I ment that red jacket they put old Simon into for the
DJ> longest time.
I remember it now (it was what he wore in "Marvel Two-In-One" #51
which also guest-starred Nick Fury, Ms. Marvel & the Beast).
Actually, I kinda liked that outfit... but then, I kinda liked a lot
of his early costumes. He was the first comic character I remember to
wear sunglasses as a part of their regular costume... although I
always liked the visor his original costume had (and which Henry Pym
wore as both Goliath & Yellowjacket).
DJ> I liked how he was handled as "hollywood" In the 30th century.
I haven't actually gotten around to reading that series yet (now
that I've finished accumulating the issues I was missing). I probably
won't until after I've moved (when I can read the entire series from
beginning to end).
One of the things I'll always remember about Wonder Man was the
way the Avengers' writers chose to portray him shortly after his
"resurrection" (after Avengers #150). The psychological aspect of his
years spent "dead" (although it was more of a chrysalis state than
death) was really interesting... and helped flesh-out the character
tremendously. To people who didn't know his history, he might've
appeared to be a coward... and undeserving of Avengers membership...
but it elevated him as a character beyond being a super-hero in the
standard mold. Also, his friendship with the Beast was something of a
joy for Avengers' fans to read, IMO. It was always an entertaining
"buddy" relationship... and I'm hoping we'll get to see more of it in
the near future. I also liked the way Simon was the key to defeating
Dr. Doom in the "Emperor Doom" graphic novel. Hopefully, Wonder Man
will be back for good this time.
Talk to you later.
David
